I was looking for every advantage I could get by reading articles and watching videos. Two seasons ago I was Bronze III and towards the end of the season I started to want to climb again. + It forces you to be familiar with the range and indicators of the champions you play.Īt the end of the day this may or may not improve your game and knowing that it is all preference. + You lose range and targeting indicators which can be bad for skillshots. + Some abilities are better suited to quick cast making it difficult for the ones that are not. ![]() + High ceiling cap for skilled players who can take advantage of this. + Potentially increases your reaction time. + Cuts down ability usage time by a significant amount. The advantage being less time spent on targeting your ability, which would mean a faster reaction and skill shot use. With quick cast it totally eliminates the step of the range/targeting graphic and just casts the ability instantly based on where your mouse is. Seriously, try it out if you haven't.In terms of League of Legends, what is quick casting? When you start League of Legends this feature is turned off so what normally happens is that you press a key for whichever ability you’re going to use and then a range/targeting graphic comes up allowing you to see where your ability is going, then your ability is used. And once you're visually used to the range of the ability of a specific god, those line abilities like his dash just feel so nice and fluid. In any case, I've really loved this effect for the entirety of Ratatoskr's kit, for example. "Ground Targeting" has been recommended in conjunction with some of these abilities.but that targeter is so small, and sometimes the range of the ability is less than the max range that the ground targeter uses (55 units for the center of the ability, while the targeter goes up to 70 units). You'll notice that, for these examples, all examples of normal casting are leaps with AOE contact. Short list of my comfort in using Normal Casting: Cerberus' Ghastly Breath and Paralyzing Spit.Depending on the skill, I still find it helpful to use Normal Casting. I've since changed default to Instant Casting. The skill is a line or cone ability with a set distance or AOE independent of the distance of your aiming.I am here to tell you that, if you are willing to use Instant Casting (at least with some abilities), it's makes a really, really nice difference in gameplay feel and is absolutely worth trying. ![]() Wherever you're currently aiming, once you hit the button, it automatically triggers the skill. In any case, Instant Casting is just that. (As a side note, there's an intermediate action, called Quick Casting, where you press and hold the button to set up, and release the button to activate, but that function sucks, IMO) I'm used to taking my time with abilities, and am adjusted to it that I can generally act quickly if I need to get something off. Historically, I've always defaulted to Normal Casting. ![]() This function is helpful if you're taking time to set up and aim, but the need to press 2 buttons means that your time to activate the ability - if you need to act quickly - is always going to be slower than if you only had to click the button once. This doesn't apply to ALL skills, as some skills are automatic activation once you click the button. ![]() This means that you press the skill key, it pops up a preliminary targeting system (shows AOE effect area), and then you press left click (PC) or the corresponding button on the controller (console). If you don't change the gameplay settings for this function, depending on the skill, hitting the key will default to Normal Casting. (Spawned from recent talks with Kriega, boogiebass, and Taco)
